The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is committed to protecting your privacy when you use our services. This privacy notice explains how we use information about you and how we protect your privacy: https://www.lbbd.gov.uk/general-privacy-notice
If you are being assisted by London Borough of Barking and Dagenham under the 1996 Housing Act (as amended, particularly via the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017), the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is undertaking research to understand more about what causes homelessness and how well services meet peoples’ needs. As such it would like to use the information you provide about how you have become homeless (or threatened with homelessness), your housing history and the sort of things you need help (and support) with. They would also like to look at how you use other public services and the benefits you receive. Your personal details (such as your name) will be needed for this. However, MHCLG’s researchers will not know whose information they are looking at.
When you first meet us, to see how we could help relieve (or prevent) you (and your household’s) homelessness, this will be explained to you. You will also be shown a notice about this and asked to give your consent to the sharing of information with the MHCLG. Further details about the information the MHCLG is collecting, how this is being used, how long it is kept for and its confidentiality maintained can be found here (pdf).
